Morges Criterium
On May 15–16, a crew from Luc Voile participated in the Morges regatta. The team consisted of Sebastian, Perrine, Alexandre, Aldo, and Yann. After spending a few evenings training to perfect their maneuvers, part of the team met up early Saturday morning to take the boat from Vidy to Morges. Sebastian and Yann took the opportunity to dive in and clean the hull, even though the water was still a bit chilly!
At the port, the team prepares the boat and trims the mast. Then it’s off to start the first races on the water. The afternoon allows for four races to be held, in light and shifting winds, but on a very interesting stretch of water. The competition is very tight, and every mistake costs dearly. The results are pretty good, with two strong races and two slightly more challenging ones (11-4-8-13). Two rather poor starts prevent us from having four good races, but good tactics and decent speed allow us to make up some ground.
Back on land, the team joins the other crews to enjoy some cold beers and talk about the races. After a good night’s sleep on the boat, the team heads back out onto the water, determined to climb a few more spots in the rankings.
After a very poor start and a race that was (fortunately) canceled, the team had a strong final race, finishing 5th, before heading back once the wind had completely died down. The team leaves with valuable experience, good communication on board, and a great atmosphere. A big thank you to Luc Voile and to the partners who make it possible for us to compete in these regattas with top-notch equipment.
