Do we organize some test session ?
No we don't organite test sessions.
The membership price is roughly equivalent to an hour of rental at other places, making it a quick and worthwhile investment. Additionally, we occasionally organize events for people outside the club.
What are the different type of membership ?
We offer two types of membership: Active and Active-Regatta.
With an Active Membership, you can participate in all club events except regattas and regatta training sessions, though exceptions may be made for discovery regattas. Active members also have the privilege of borrowing boats for yachting activities.
The Active-Regatta Membership includes all the benefits of Active Membership, with the additional advantage of participating in regatta training sessions, regattas held on Lake Leman, and international regattas.
Who can join the club ?
The club welcomes everyone, regardless of affiliation. However, we offer special pricing for students and PhD students, making membership more accessible compared to our standard rates. You don’t need to be affiliated with EPFL or UNIL to join. Our doors are open to all !
When does the membership starts
Membership runs annually from September 1st to August 31st of the following year. If you join in July or August, we automatically extend your membership by two months, ensuring it remains valid for the next full season.
We don’t offer half-season memberships because the majority of sailing activities take place between April and August.
How do we operate ?
Where and which boat are we using ?
At the club, we operate with two Surprise-class boats, a highly versatile design that excels in both cruising and regatta sailing. These boats are stationed in Vidy, ready for members to use.
Do we offer sailing lessons ?
No, we don’t organize formal test sessions, but every member is happy to share their experience during a session. It’s the best way to learn!
When can I use the boats ?
One of our Surprise-class boats is reserved for regatta members for training sessions, while the other is available to all members when it’s free. You can check availability and book the boat through our online calendar.
We also have a WhatsApp group where members coordinate outings and ask questions—like finding someone with a sailing license, which is required to sail these boats.
We don’t allow exclusive reservations, any member can join your outing if there’s space available on the boat! The goal is to maximize sharing and sailing opportunities for everyone.
How can I get my sailing license ?
First we give you access to the theoretical material. Members volunteer to help you prepare for your sailing license, by letting you join training sessions. And on the big day, you can even use the boat for free to take your exam. It makes the whole process much easier!
What other activities are organized ?
We organize BBQs, movie nights, and plenty of other fun events, always keeping our members in the loop! And once a year, we set sail for an unforgettable cruise.
